It's my impression that Japanese government does need to do more to face up tothe past atrocities, which is a premise for regional countries to reach somecommon ground and then move on. Some would argue that Chinese government hasits own blood on hands, which I don't deny, but one evil does not justifyanother, and those victims felling to Japan's past atrocities in WWII haveevery right to demand justice. The theory that China is ruled by dictatorialcommunists and a bully so Chinese people should be denied the apologies theyotherwise deserve is absurd at best.

However on the other hand it's also my belief that, on individual level, noaverage Japanese of today shall be held accountable for what their ancestorsdid. It's their right to apologize, to acknowledge, to be ignorant of, or evento deny. I won't like people of later types, but it doesn't mean I have to hatethem.

It's just like if someone of my extended family in history had committedhorrible things(statistically it's very likely) , I wouldn't think I shouldtake personal responsibility of those things just because I happen to share apiece of gene with that sob.
Off the topic, Nanjingis a nice place to visit, and here people aren't that anti-Japan as some wouldassume. There're many Sino-Japan business activities going on. Japanesecompanies like Sharp, Mazda, Fujisu, etc. have local branches; retailers likeUNIQLO and MUJI each have strong presence in major department stores with loyalpatronages. At the same time the local retailer giant Suning alsoaquired Japan's Laox to start its own global foray.
