To stay one step ahead of the intruders, Japan should put some kind of a structure on one of the islands ... such as a radar station, a fort, heck, even a castle ...

facilities on the islands with personnel there. Or what China has done in the South China Sea.Seems to me that a jetty/port to accommodate small coast guard vessels, a few helipads to accommodate troop carrying helicopters, a radar facility and a small contingent of
Self Defense / Coast Guard personnel would do the trick.Of course, China will protest and Japan should just copy the Chinese statements on its activities in the South China Sea verbatim, simply swapping .As an old saying in the U.S. goes, if you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.
@edojin,完全同意。这只是一个时间问题。在我看来,如果日本认真维护自身在该岛屿的主权,它也可以做到韩国在竹岛/独岛上所做的,将设施和人员都部署在岛屿上,或者是中国在南海上所做的。
我认为应该建造一个码头/港口，来容纳海岸警卫队的小型船只,建几个直升机停机坪，来容纳携带直升机、雷达设施的部队，或是一小队自卫队/海岸警卫队人员。
当然,中国将会进行抗议，而日本应该将中国对其在南中国海海域内的活动的声明逐字逐句地复制下来，只要改一下岛屿的名称/地区就行。美国有句俗语说,如果你带着大狗不能跑,那就呆在门廊上。
